Menopause and Stress: How Your Phone Can Help Manage Your Symptoms

April is Stress Awareness Month

One of the most common symptoms of menopause is stress. Some of the most common symptoms include hot flashes, mood swings, and sleep disturbances. These symptoms can all increase stress levels, which can impact a woman's well-being. You can't stop stress from happening, but you can manage it using something you have. Your phone.

Tools for Managing Menopausal Stress

There are many tools available that can help women manage stress. Some of the top tools include:

  1. Mindfulness apps: Mindfulness apps like Headspace and Calm can help women stay centered and calm during periods of stress.

  2. Wearable devices: Wearable devices like Fitbit can help women track their activity levels, sleep patterns, and stress levels, giving them insight into their overall well-being.

  3. Calming music or nature sounds on an app or website

  4. Virtual reality relaxation? Yep, it's a thing to try for a very interesting "spa day"

  5. Meditation apps: There are several meditation apps that offer guided meditations and mindfulness exercises to help manage stress and promote relaxation.

  6. Relaxation apps: Relaxation apps, such as White Noise or Rain Rain, offer soothing sounds like ocean waves or rainfall to help reduce stress and promote relaxation.

  7. Fitness apps: Exercise is a great way to relieve stress, and there are many fitness apps available that offer guided workouts and fitness challenges. Apps like MyFitnessPal or Fitbit can also track activity levels and provide motivation to stay active.

  8. Journaling apps: Writing down your thoughts and feelings in a journal can be a therapeutic way to manage stress. There are several journaling apps available, such as Day One or Journey, that offer prompts and reminders to encourage daily journaling.

  9. Reminder apps: It can be easy to forget to take breaks or practice self-care during a busy day, but reminder apps like Fabulous or Reminder can help keep you on track with reminders to take deep breaths, stretch, or practice mindfulness.

Your phone can be used for more than surfing social media or texting your best girlfriend while your at work. Try one of these apps for a week and share with us what worked. Essentially, you want to balance technology with other stress management techniques.
