This menopausal journey is like holding a different mirror up to yourself EVERYDAY. Sometimes, we are best friends and at other times, it makes me feel anxious. We all know that anxiety is a part of the whole emotional side of menopause, but that doesn't mean you have to lay down and accept it.
Do you want to live a life of "well being" and if so, by definition are you doing that?
I can admit that sometimes I was NOT. Sometimes, I was giving self care advice that I honestly was not following through on because I did not have the time. How crazy is that?
This week I learned: My Well Being Matters
I have been so focused on creating a legacy and leaving my mark on the world that I have forgotten to allow myself to just be. I have already done enough right?
This week kicked off with a mammogram. Last year, I had a mammogram and ended up having to get a biopsy done on my left boob. Yes, I said boob.
I was a little anxious about that because when they find something...you almost expect them to always find something.
I rescheduled all meetings and appointments that I knew would stress me, aggravate me or simply waste my time.
On one of those "non meeting" days, I went to the nail shop. After trying quite a few in the area we moved to, I had gave up because the experience had become stressful. However, I found one that was truly a relaxing experience. There wasn't any loud people video chatting or popping gum, no kids running around...nothing.
I closed my week off with "massage day"... a few months ago, I started back getting monthly massages which I hadn't done since the big "C." Now I get therapeutic massages versus the typical relaxation massage. It is about that uncomfortable stretching and working out stress knots.
FACTS: The wear and tear of daily life can take a toll, and it can be easy to neglect your own well-being. If at no other time in your life, it is vital RIGHT NOW to put you first.
Your body is changing
These changes can make it harder to maintain a healthy weight and may also contribute to fatigue, mood swings, and other symptoms.
Your risk of certain health problems increases
As you get older, your risk of certain health problems, such as heart disease, stroke, and type 2 diabetes, increases.
Your mental health is just as important as your physical health
Stress, anxiety, and depression are common issues, and it's important to address these issues in order to maintain good mental health.
So, what can you do to focus on your well-being after 40?
Instead of giving you a bunch of tips and things to do. I want you to just check out this video.
When the Ashwagandha isn't working and I feel overwhelmed, I watch it. It brings me immediately back to a peaceful state where I can focus on what is best for me.
That's all. That's the assignment. xoxox
