Let's be transparent in a way only women over 40 can be....2024 has been a year for not just the books, but a whole library. With 2025 fast approaching, most of us are feeling differently going into the new year.
Maybe you’ve climbed a few ladders, chased dreams that looked great on paper, or wondered off the path you once loved. I’ve been there. Back in 2018, I was a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate), championing children who needed a voice. Later, I stepped away became a foster parent, adopted, started a new business and a few other new things but recently found myself pulled back toward being a CASA. Yes, “back” is the keyword—but here’s the thing: going back to what makes you feel alive isn’t actually going backward at all. It’s about honoring the call of your heart, no matter how many turns you’ve taken.
If you’re itching to do what you truly love in 2025, here are five tips:
Embrace the ‘Redo’
Don’t think twice if returning to a previous passion lights you up. Maybe it’s volunteering as a CASA like I did, or going back to your art studio. Forget the shame game—if it mattered then and matters now, it’s worth revisiting.
Lean Into Meaningful Work
Anyone can chase the bag; not everyone dares to chase meaning. Whether it’s caring for foster kids or teaching yoga to seniors, choose something that fills you up, not just your bank account.
Celebrate Every Small Win
It’s not all or nothing. Take one step toward that nonprofit you love or sign up for that certification you always thought about? Then celebrate it. Small moves add up, and they’re proof that you’re on the right track.
Set Boundaries to Stay True
Your time is precious. Don’t say yes to every shiny opportunity that isn’t really “you.” Clear some space for what matters. You have the right to protect your energy and your legacy.
Tell Your Story
Open up. Share why you’re returning to what you love—let people in on your journey. It helps you own your narrative and might even inspire someone else to do the same.
No, it’s not too late. It’s never too late. Whether you’re dusting off an old dream or starting something brand new, what matters is that you’re doing it for you.
Here’s to a year of rediscovery, bravery, and embracing every part of your path. In short, "Let it go" and "Let it glow!"
